LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles is a city built against the landscape, but never completely separate from it.
Mountains at the edge of the grid. Dry riverbeds and concrete channels. Palms, chaparral, bougainvillea and dust. Coyotes moving through residential streets before sunrise, following routes that existed long before the neighborhoods around them.
The city has its own kind of rhythm. Early mornings at the donut shop. Fruit stands under umbrellas. Taco trucks after dark. Cars, corner stores, parking lots, backyard gatherings and long stretches of sun-bleached pavement.
Cultures overlap here without ever becoming one thing. Languages, food, music, neighborhoods and generations continually reshape the city while holding onto where they came from.
Los Angeles is polished and unfinished. Natural and constructed. Beautiful and rough around the edges.
FIELD STUDY NO. 01 examines the city as we know it – through its people, its landscape, and the everyday moments that give Los Angeles its character.
